English version:
The Indonesian Government brought forth the issue of the importance of economic development for alleviating disparity at the 31st ASEAN Summit in Manila, Philippines.
This Summit is a continuation of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Dialogue forum discussion with APEC Leaders during the 25th APEC Summit in Da Nang, Vietnam, last November 12-17, 2017.
President Joko Widodo put forward the issue of economic empowerment in every region as one of the efforts to overcome said disparity.
“President Joko Widodo continues the fight on the disparity issue during the international diplomacy that involves 21 APEC nation leaders, seeing that this economic disparity happens everywhere, not just in developing but also in developed nations. Indonesia makes for a good role model from its various achievements especially in the last 3 years,” Explained ABAC Indonesia Chairman Anindya N. Bakrie in a written press statement on Tuesday (14/11/2017).
Trade and Investment in ASEAN as well as APEC member nations have grown quite rapidly so far. However, the issue of disparity is still happening in these nations.
Therefore, Jokowi underlined, that any steps taken must shine a light on the disparity happening as well as ways to overcome it.
A new balance is required that can align growth and equity in order for equitable economy to be created.
In regards to this, the Indonesian government has concluded a few of its inclusive growth program thus far, among which are village funding and village funding institutional reinforcement programs.
Aside from distributing village funding valued at Rp800 million per village, the funds are also allocated as cash for work with the reasoning that a village is the smallest entity driving the nation’s economy.
