Pada Unit 2. Back to the 90s halaman 167, siswa akan belajar cerita fantasi berdasarkan benda-benda dan tren pada tahun 90an.

Siswa akan belajar membaca cerita Time Travel Car (Part 3) dalam Section 5 - Reading di halaman 177.

Pada halaman 180, siswa diminta untuk membaca bagian terakhir dari cerita Time Travel Car pada Section 7 - Your Turn: Reading.

a. Read the end of the story and then answer the questions.

“I am Prof. Mahmud. Who are you? Why do you want to see me?
“Prof. Mahmud, I am Monita. I come from 2022?”
“What? How did you get here”
“I came in a lying car. Let me show you!”
Monita took Prof. Mahmud to the place where the car stopped.
When Prof. Mahmud saw the car, he was excited.
“This is the car that I created, but I have not inished it yet”
“What did you do to get it started?”
“I pressed the red button,” answered Monita.
“Oh. it’s that simple”
“But now I need to go back to the year 2022. I need you to help me, Prof. Mahmud.”
“Let’s go inside the car and ind out how to get you back to 2022”
Monita and Prof Mahmud got into the car. They observed the buttons on the dashboard panel.
Then, both of them saw a tiny pink button next to the red button with a mark: 2022.
Together, they pressed that button. And zap! The car lew again.

Kemudian, pada halaman 181, siswa akan dihadapkan pada soal mengenai bacaan tersebut.

Siswa harus mengerjakan soal tersebut secara mandiri terlebih dahulu.

Orang tua/wali dapat membantu siswa dalam belajar dan mengerjakan soal tersebut dengan melihat pada kunci jawaban sebagai pembanding jawaban siswa.

1. How did Monita feel after she met Prof. Mahmud?

b. Find the question in direct speeches in the last part of the story. Then, change them into indirect speech.

Answer:

Monita and Prof. Mahmud sat inside the time travel car, their hearts racing with excitement. After successfully returning from the year 1992, Monita asked curiously, “Prof, if this car can bring us back to 2022, maybe it can also take us to other times, right?”

Prof. Mahmud smiled. “Of course, Monita. This machine is designed to travel through time. Why don’t we try going to the future first?”

Monita’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. Together, they pressed a glowing blue button marked Future. With a loud zap!, the car shot forward, surrounded by flashes of silver light.

When the car finally stopped, Monita gasped. Outside the window, she saw tall, shining skyscrapers made of glass and steel, flying cars zooming through the sky, and robots walking alongside humans. The city looked so futuristic, with neon lights and moving sidewalks everywhere. “Wow, Prof! This is amazing. It feels like we’re in another world!” said Monita.

Prof. Mahmud nodded, observing every detail. “This is probably more than a hundred years from 2022. Technology has truly transformed human life.” They walked around for a while, amazed at how advanced everything had become.

After enjoying the future, they decided to explore the past. Monita pressed a green button with the label Prehistoric Era. The car shook and spun, then landed with a heavy thump. As they looked outside, Monita screamed in shock. A huge dinosaur was walking near their car! “P-Prof! That’s a real dinosaur!” she whispered in fear.

The ground trembled as another dinosaur roared in the distance. Prof. Mahmud, though equally astonished, quickly wrote notes in his journal. “This is incredible, Monita. We’re witnessing creatures that lived millions of years ago.” They carefully observed the giant reptiles from inside the car until it was time to leave before things got too dangerous.

Finally, Monita suggested, “Prof, can we visit Indonesia in the 1950s? I want to see what our country looked like in the past.” The professor agreed. With another press of a button, the car landed in a busy town square. The atmosphere was so different—there were no tall buildings, only small shops and traditional markets. People wore simple clothes, rode bicycles, and old-fashioned cars moved slowly on the streets.

They traveled to several cities—Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya—seeing how Indonesia was rebuilding itself after independence. Monita felt like she was stepping into history books. “Prof, this is so valuable. I can learn history not only from school, but by seeing it with my own eyes.”

Prof. Mahmud smiled proudly. “That’s the true power of knowledge, Monita. Time travel teaches us to appreciate the past, prepare for the future, and live wisely in the present.”

With hearts full of wonder, Monita and Prof. Mahmud returned to their car, ready for the next adventure through time
